PensionsPicBy Gary Culliton. A total of €24,638,528.92 was last year paid by the HSE to the GP Pension Scheme Administrator in respect of the 10 per cent contribution to the GP pension fund. This compares to €24,774,006.80 in 2012 and €23,725,964.14 in 2011.

The HSE facilitates GP contractors by deducting 5 per cent of their capitation payments as their contribution towards a pension scheme for GMS contract holders.

In addition to the this, the HSE contributes a sum equivalent to 10 per cent of total capitation fees payable to medical practitioners under the GMS to the GP pension scheme. This private pension scheme is administered on behalf of GPs by the IMO.
